“Ab Mujhe Koi Intezar Kahan…” from Ishqiya

This has been one of my recent favorites, I have been listening the song and have tried to follow the lyrics since the day the music came in the market. Rekha Bharadwaj has sung the song beautifully, the best part is that she has got an opportunity to sing Gulzar’s lyrics on Vishal’s tunes. It’s a slow, rhythmic, soft and deeply touching song which people would love to listen too. I have tried to explain it in an elaborate way so that it could be followed by each one of us in a much simpler way.

Meanings

Aabshar = waterfall (here it indicates tears falling from the eye.)

Here in the above lines...

The poet utters in his state of melancholy… 
There is nothing left behind to wait for any longer.
The tears which used to fall off my eyes have dried
off with time and are no longer there.
There is nothing left behind to wait for any longer.

He again laments and says…. 
In the limited space of my eyes dreams used to come at night.
When touched, it used to flow,
When spoken to, it used to reciprocate. 
But again feels how can one trust those volatile dreams
which are so inconsistent?

He again returns to his state of gloominess and says... 
There is nothing left behind to wait for any longer.
He then addresses his beloved and says … 
Those days when you were there, eyes had its sunshine. 
It then used to dispel gloom away and bring cheerfulness everywhere.
But now there are dense cobwebs everywhere... 
due to which the complexities of life has increased manifolds. 
Now even those cobwebs are going to rip off. 
and the catharsis after pain that used to be there 
is also no longer there.
